Sam Rickner is an artist, photographer, and studio assistant based in Minneapolis, MN. Her professional client work and fine art practice find common ground in intimate portraiture that utilizes photography as means for narrative driven connections.

Rickner received her BFA in Photography from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (2019), studied abroad at the Bauhaus Universitaet (2018), and continues to live and work in the Twin Cities. Her work incorporates elements of editorial, fashion, and documentary style photography that has allowed her to work with diverse clients. Most notably, she has assisted on projects in collaboration with GUCCI, Balenciaga, New York Times Magazine and Magnum Photos.

Her work has been exhibited locally at the Northrup King Building (2017), Whit Gallery (2018), Regis Center for the Arts (2018), Gallery 148 | Solo Exhibition (2019), Praxis Photo Arts Center (2023), and Gamut Gallery (2023), as well as internationally, at the Bauhaus, Weimar, Germany (2018); Kunsthaus Erfurt, Germany (2018); the Alten Speicher, Weimar, Germany (2018); and the H2 Kunstgalerie, Erlangen, Germany (2019).
